About the Journal

FOCUS AND SCOPE

Al-Afaq: Journal of Ilmu Falak and Astronomy welcomes full research articles in the field of astronomy, specifically related to the study of the Qibla direction, Hisab, Rukyah, and other aspects of Islamic astronomy. The journal focuses on the following main topics:
(1) The study of Qibla direction,
(2) Hisab and Rukyah for determining the beginning of the Hijri Month,
(3) Digital Falakiyah,
(4) The World Calendar,
(5) Eclipse phenomena,
(6) The relationship between astronomical phenomena and Islamic teachings,
(7) Astronomy in Islamic perspectives.

Authors are invited to submit original research articles that have not been published previously and are not under consideration elsewhere.

PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

Al-Afaq is published twice a year, in June and December.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

After the article passes the plagiarism-checking stage, each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two independent referees (double-blind) who are experts in the subject area. Whether the article is accepted or not will be discussed with the editorial board. Plagiarism checking is done using Turnitin.
