Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Al-AFAQ: Journal of Ilmu Falak and Astronomy undergoes a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published research.

After passing the initial plagiarism screening using Turnitin, each manuscript is evaluated by the editorial team to determine its relevance to the journal’s focus, scope, and compliance with the submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic criteria will be returned to the author without being sent for review.

Eligible manuscripts are then assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject area. The reviewers assess the manuscript’s scientific contribution, originality, clarity, and relevance, based on a standardized review form. The peer review process typically takes 3 to 4 weeks.

The final decision on the manuscript — whether to accept, request revisions, or reject — is made by the editorial board, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations. On average, the entire process from submission to publication takes approximately 8 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of authors and reviewers.

Al-AFAQ: Journal of Ilmu Falak and Astronomy is committed to maintaining a rigorous and confidential review system through the application of the Double-Blind and Double Peer Review model, involving authors, editors, section editors, and reviewers in a transparent and ethical publication process.
