Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of problem-based learning integrated with ethnoscience on the creative thinking skills of students at SMPN 1 Labuapi. The research employs an experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach, involving 33 students, consisting of 18 male students and 15 female students. Data on students' creative thinking skills were collected through pretest and posttest, which were then analyzed using homogeneity, normality, and paired sample t-test. The analysis results show that both pretest and posttest data are homogeneous and normally distributed. The paired sample t-test yielded a t-statistic of -26.8811 with a p-value of 0.0000, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. The average pretest score was 67.1 and the posttest score was 81.4, with an N-gain of 0.5, showing a significant improvement in students' creative thinking skills. This study concludes that problem-based learning integrated with ethnoscience is effective in enhancing students' creative thinking skills, in line with previous studies that show this approach not only enhances critical thinking skills but also enriches students' understanding of local culture. Problem-based learning integrated with ethnoscience has great potential to be applied in the Indonesian education curriculum, particularly in developing students' creative thinking skills.
