Abstract the purpose of this study focuses on the existence of customer understanding of the usury-free zone program in sharia cooperatives in Lombok which should consistently practice sharia-based products but at the same time most of the customers practice conventional-based cooperative products which are identical to the practice of interest and usury. This research uses a psychological normative approach as well as the motivation theory of differences in understanding and experience of Robert M. Goldenson and the theory of attitudes offered by Gagne & Briggs, as well as the theory of riba in the perspective of Islamic law so that it can dissect the problem of customers' understanding of sharia cooperatives in Lombok. This research has resulted in the existence of public understanding of the riba-free zone program has not yet reached the stage of psychomotor understanding even though all levels in the aspects of cognitive and affective understanding have been practiced, but the practice is only used as a strategy to convince the directors and members of the sharia cooperative management to be designated as customers. Therefore, the motivation of customers in maintaining the existence of the riba-free zone program in each sharia cooperative in Lombok is because they feel that they are indebted to have been made as a member of customers by the management of sharia cooperatives even though in reality most of them still implement riba-based transactions.
