Author Guidelines

  • Manuscript Formatting: Manuscripts should be typed using 1.5 line spacing and be approximately 5000-12000 words in length. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font size, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides of A4 paper (210 x 297 mm).

  • Structure of Manuscript: The manuscript should include the following sections:

    • Title
    • Author's Name (without titles such as Prof, Dr, etc.)
    • Author's Affiliation and Contact Information
    • Abstract (200-250 words) in both English and Indonesian
    • Keywords (3-5 keywords, separated by semicolons)
    • Introduction
    • Methodology
    • Findings and Discussion
    • Conclusion
    • References

  • Author Information: Authors must provide their full names, institutional affiliations, and a contact email address. Citations should follow the format: (Author's Last Name, Year, p. Page Number) for direct quotes, or (Author's Last Name, Year) for general references.

    Example:

    • (Muhsin, 2020, p. 12) for direct quotes
    • (Muhsin, 2020) for general references

  • References: References should be formatted as follows:

    • Books: Author Last Name, Initial(s). (Year) Title of the Book. Place of Publication: Publisher.
      • Example: Azizy, Q. (2002) Eklektisisme hukum nasional: kompentensi antara hukum Islam dan hukum umum. Yogyakarta: Gama Media.
    • Journal Articles: Author Last Name, Initial(s). (Year) ‘Title of Article’, Title of Journal, Volume Number (Issue Number), pp. Page Range.
      • Example: Zubaidi, S. (2020) ‘Cigarette fatwas, contestation of religious authority and politics in Indonesia’, Al-IHKAM: Journal of Family Law, 20 (1), pp. 61-78.
    • Online Sources: Author Last Name, Initial(s). (Year) Title of Document [Online]. Available at: URL (Accessed: Date).

  • Transliteration: Follow established guidelines for transliterating Arabic to Latin script.

  • Submission Process: Manuscripts should be submitted via the Online Submission Interface. Ensure that the manuscript has not been previously published or is under consideration elsewhere. Submissions must include a full bibliography and accurate in-text citations.

  • Review and Revision: Each submitted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two peer reviewers. Authors will receive feedback and are expected to return revised manuscripts promptly. Manuscripts returned after three months will be treated as new submissions.

  • Tables, Diagrams, and Figures:

    • Tables: Number tables sequentially, with titles placed above. Tables should be centered and single-spaced.
    • Figures: Include figures in the electronic version of the manuscript in JPG or PNG format.

  • Manuscript Headings and Formatting: The manuscript should use 12-point Times New Roman font. Headings should be bold, with a 12-point space above and below each heading. Page numbers should be included in the footer.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Ensure that your submission:

  • Is original and has not been published or considered elsewhere.
  • Is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
  • Includes URLs for references where available.
  • Adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in these guidelines.
  • Indonesian scholars must submit manuscripts in Indonesian, with the title, abstract, and keywords in English.
  • International scholars must submit manuscripts in English or Arabic.

Copyright Notice

By submitting an article to Al-IHKAM: Journal of Family Law, authors agree to:

  • Assign copyright of the article to Al-IHKAM as the publisher, including the right to publish in various formats.
  • Disseminate the article by sharing the link/DOI, with acknowledgment of the journal as the initial publisher.
  • Allow users to use the article for legal purposes with proper citation and acknowledgment of Al-IHKAM.
