At Al-Ihkam: Jurnal Hukum Keluarga Ahwal al-Syakhshiyyah Fakultas Syariah IAIN Mataram, we take great care in publishing high-quality research, backed by a thorough peer-review process. However, in rare cases, it may be necessary to retract or correct published articles to maintain the integrity of our journal. These actions are taken seriously and only in exceptional circumstances to ensure trust in our published work.

Article Retraction
An article may be retracted if:

  • Significant Errors: The article contains major errors that affect its conclusions, due to either mistakes or unethical behavior like data fabrication.
  • Duplicate Publication: The same findings were published elsewhere without proper reference or permission.
  • Ethical Issues: Problems like plagiarism or inappropriate authorship are discovered.

When a retraction is needed, we follow these steps:
The issue is brought to the editor's attention.

  1. The editor investigates, including getting a response from the author(s).
  2. The Ethics Advisory Board reviews the findings to ensure fairness.
  3. The decision is communicated to the author(s) and any relevant institutions.
  4. A retraction notice is published online and in the next journal issue.

Article Correction

Corrections may be issued when:
Minor Errors: Small but important mistakes need to be fixed, usually due to honest errors.
Authorship Changes: Adjustments to the author list are needed, either to add or remove names.

Corrections can take the form of:

  • Publisher Correction (Erratum): When the journal's team made an error that needs fixing.
  • Author Correction (Corrigendum): When the author needs to correct an error.
  • Addendum: When additional information needs to be added to the original article.

The journal’s editors decide if a correction is necessary, with input from reviewers or the Editorial Board if needed.

Article Removal

In very rare cases, an article may need to be removed from the journal’s website, such as if it’s found to be defamatory or legally problematic. In such cases, the article’s title and author information will stay online, but the content will be replaced with a note explaining the removal.

Article Replacement

If an article could pose a serious health risk, the authors might request to retract it and replace it with a corrected version. If this happens, the retraction notice will include a link to the updated article and a history of the changes made.
